Our Facebook feeds have already surrendered to a trend newly added to an already long list of wedding festivities. Cute little props, pretty cupcakes, floral headbands and a gleeful bride-to-be blushing in the middle of her friends – you guessed it right, Bridal Shower it is. We all know our way around the décor by now but those of you wondering what activities or games to jazz up your bridal shower with, this article is for you. These games can turn your party into an unforgettable fun event. Read on to be the bridal shower goddess.
Remember the good old days when half our fun relied on tiny paper games we absolutely adored as kids. Well, this is a spiced up and even more fun version of those little games. The host of the bridal shower starts off the game by scribbling down a line at top of the page about how the couple met. For instance, “Murtaza and Aleena met at the office”. They pass it on and each guest gets a chance to carry on the story by adding their own juicy version. Once a guest writes a line, their job is to fold the piece of paper so to reveal only their sentence and hide the rest of the story. In the end, the host reads the final piece aloud to everyone. Imagine all the laughter as the story unfolds.
Before the shower, draw up a list of standard items our purses generally have – lipstick, keys, tissues or candies. Call out the items on the list to the crowd and watch everyone go into a frenzy of rummaging through their purses. The first guest to fish out the item gets to be the winner. You’d have to get a few prizes first – chocolates or gift cards.
Add a little sentiment to all the fun with this game! Hand over note cards to every guest asking them to write their favorite funny memory they have of the bride. Have all the note cards collected into a jar. Read each memory aloud for the bride to guess who wrote it. Reminiscing the memories whether funny ones or not – is bound to have everyone smiling ear to ear.
Tuck a blank note in the invitation card asking every guest for their advice and key to a happy marriage. Guests’ advice could range from funny quotes to naughty one-liners or even their own experiences. All notes will be read aloud and guessed by the bride. Ah the blushing and the grinning that will follow!
The same old game we all are familiar with – only that this one is all wedding themed. Scribble down wedding related phrases on slips of paper – doodh pilai, joota chupai, rasta rukai, mehndi and so on. Have them all collected in a bowl and divide the guests into two teams to carry it on like a regular Pictionary.
