Article By: Myra Raja

As far as this past week goes, we have been on a DIY binge. Continuing the binge, we have brought you a special one. Reintroducing a household staple which is used as an antibacterial anecdote, a natural silky moisturizer and an oil controller.

Honey is God’s gift to man, in so many ways. Be it, its medicinal uses, its flavor, or the fact that it gives us a solution to all our skin problems, it is a definite Godsend. Despite the fact that our grandmothers have been boasting about its uses, we have never found the time or the effort to go through with it. However, bear in mind, the quality of honey matters, the more expensive and raw, the more beneficial it’ll be. Skip the expensive branded high end creams and invest in a good honey jar, you will be doing yourself a favor. Here are some facial masks that are sure to get rid of any problems you are going through in this scorching heat.

1. For Acne Prone Skin

All you need:

1. 1 Tsp Lemon

2. 1 Tsp Baking Soda

3. 1 Tbsp Honey

The thing about baking soda is that it is an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory agent. Add this to lemon juice and honey and you have a gentle but effective mask to control acne. After mixing it into a smooth paste, apply it with a brush gently, do not try to massage it in, we don’t want the skin to get irritated. Stay away from the eyes and leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water and then cold water. Don’t forget to apply a strong sunscreen if you are intending to head out.

Avocado is great for hydrating purposes. The almonds will exfoliate gently and the honey and avocado will provide the moisturizing, you can add a little bit of almond oil, a tablespoon or so. Keep checking the consistency, if it’s too runny then it won’t work too well. Spread it evenly on your face for 15 to 20 minutes and wash it off with warm water.

4. For Oily Skin

All You need:

1. 1 Tsp Honey

2. 1 Tsp Apple Cider Vinegar

3. 1 Tsp Bentonite Clay or Moroccan Red Clay

If you are used to breaking out sweat then you know a clay mask is the answer, other than that add honey in the mixture and you have yourself a winner. Honey breaks up the oil buildup and clay exfoliates and removes it in the process. Throw in apple cider vinegar and you’re done. Mix all three in a bowl; please make sure it’s not a metal or a reactive bowl. Clay reacts to metal so be aware of that aspect. Keep it on for 15 minutes and then gently take it off with warm water and then cold.
