Have you ever looked at Cameron Diaz’s or Deepika Padukone’s bodies and wondered how they’re so muscular and perfectly toned at all times? Well, ladies, the answer to your question is Pilates. This hardcore form of exercise is a permanent part of the fitness regimen of many A-Listers, models and fitness fanatics. It is a combination of exercises that are performed with the help of designated equipment to lose weight, increase flexibility and get toned. Today millions of people do Pilates for health and fitness purposes and it is one of the most effective ways to lose weight.
As a bride, you’ll have to start with Pilates several months before your wedding and do it for at least 120 minutes per day. It will require you to use your abdominal muscles a lot, which is why it is recommended that you do Pilates only after eating lightly especially if you don’t want your movement to be too restricted. You should avoid working out on an empty stomach because you might get too exhausted and run out of energy halfway through your workout.

Here’s some useful information that you should know before getting started with Pilates:
Initially, Pilates was referred to as Contrology and it was invented by a German gymnast, Joseph Pilates. In the beginning, this exercise program was intended for war veterans and injured dancers. Pilates also opened the first center of Pilates in the US in 1920.
It seldom happens that people lose weight with exercise alone which is why you need to follow a strict diet alongside your workout routine. Reducing your calorie intake is as important as the working out itself. You can simply gulp a protein shake or eat some oatmeal or perhaps even a peanut butter and wholegrain bread sandwich before your workout.
You should avoid foods that make you gassy or feel bloated especially before your Pilates session. Moreover, you should avoid sugar, foods that are high in fat and soft drinks.
No matter what form of workout you choose you should always ensure that you’re well hydrated. If you get thirsty then you should simply continue sipping small amounts of water during your Pilates class.

It is a common misperception that Pilates is a “women only” workout. Pilates is by no means gender specific. It was invented by a man, for both men and women (and basically anyone who needs to lose weight and avail its health benefits).
Depending on people’s physiques, they’ve often described Pilates as an intense or moderately intense form of workout. But it is far from easy. Some of the upper-level exercises involved in Pilates are fairly strenuous and are not exactly a walk in the park.
Pilates is NOT a type of Yoga! They may resemble in some areas but are fairly different in other regards. For instance, Pilates is a complete equipment based form of workout, unlike yoga.
