Getting those baby soft lips has never been easier!
Peeling skin and dryness can get very annoying. You don’ want to sit on the day of your wedding in front of all those guests and feel the dryness on your lips or peel off the skin with your fingers. The best to stay off the dryness and peeling is to keep your lips hydrated. A number of balms and moisturizers are available in the market, but when you don’t have time to buy them, you make one of your own! Let’s go through some of the remedies that you can apply at home for better results:
You will need virgin coconut oil or olive oil or castor oil or almond oil or jojoba oil. Any of these oils will do. 1-2 drops tea tree oil or grapeseed oil is also needed. What You Have to Do: Make a blend by mixing 1-2 drops of the essential oil in the carrier oil. Apply this blend on your lips and leave it on. Reapply this oil blend twice or thrice during the day. It can also be applied before going to bed and left on overnight.
For this sweet balm, you will only need Raw Honey and Vaseline. Apply a layer of honey on your lips followed by a layer of Vaseline. Leave these on for 10-15 minutes and then use a damp tissue or a damp cloth to wipe it off. Repeat this once every day for about a week for lasting results.
Take 5-6 rose metals and soak them for 2-3 hours. Gently mash the petals in 1/4th cup of milk to get a paste-like consistency. Apply the paste on your lips and keep it on for 20 minutes. Rinse off with cold water. Do this every day for a week or so.
All you need is a cucumber slice. Rub the slice gently on your lips for a minute or two and leave the cucumber juice on for 10 minutes. You can also mash 1-2 cucumber slices and apply this as a mask on your lips. Apply cucumber on your lips once or twice every day.
Apply Aloe Vera gel regularly on the lips before going to bed. Aloe contains natural ingredients that soothe the chapped skin and gently remove the dead layer of skin cells. It helps to strengthen the thin protective layer of skin on the lips and also provides a cooling effect.
You will need a green tea bag and a cup of hot water; not don’t drink it! Dip the green tea bag in hot water for a few minutes. Place this tea bag on the lips and leave it on for a few minutes. Repeat this once daily.
You will require organic cocoa butter OR shea butter OR peanut butter OR yogurt OR ghee (clarified butter) OR buttermilk. Apply a small amount of cocoa butter on your lips and leave it on overnight. Alternatively, you can also use shea butter or ghee (clarified butter) and leave it on overnight as well. If you plan to use peanut butter, yogurt or buttermilk, just leave it on your lips for 5-10 minutes and then rinse it off. (Leaving these on overnight will ruin your pillow covers.) Do this every day for a few days.
Lemon juice does wonders! Take 1tsp of lemon juice, 1tsp of honey and 1/2tsp of castor oil. Mix all the ingredients and apply as a mask on your lips. Keep it on for about 10 minutes and then rinse with water. Repeat this procedure daily for 7-10 days.
You will need 1 teaspoon brown sugar (or white sugar), A few drops of olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon honey. Mix the sugar with the olive oil and honey. Do not let it dissolve. Apply this mixture on your lips and scrub gently in circular motions. Wash the scrub off with lukewarm water. Use this scrub every alternate day initially. Then, continue to use it once or twice a week to maintain soft and smooth lips.
For this home remedy you require, 2 teaspoons sugar, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 2 teaspoons jojoba oil or olive oil, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix all the ingredients; take a small amount of this mixture on your fingertip and apply it on your lips. Scrub the lips with this mixture for a minute or so and then wash it off. You can store the rest of the vanilla lip scrub in an airtight container for up to 7 days. Use this scrub every day for a few days and then once every 3-4 days.
Take care and don’t forget to flaunt those baby soft lips!
